As a new real estate agent at the Levi Rodgers Real Estate Group (LRG), Dana Buffin doesn’t allow her “newness” to get in the way of closing the deal. She also doesn’t let mother nature stop her from helping a client.

Recently, the Palacios family from California were interested in two lots in the Settlement at Patriot Ranch, a 1,300-acre gated community with three- to five- acre lots west of Seguin. Unfortunately, due to the extensive rain, thick brush and rough terrain, it became obvious that the land wasn’t explorable on foot.

Dana went to get her horse, Shamal, and “walked” the property while taking video so that the Palacios family could get a sense of the lots they were interested in. This sealed the deal! The Palacios family put in an offer on a four-acre lot and were under contract in about two days.

This can-do spirit that Dana has and her personal motto of putting the client before the deal paid off for both her and the Palacios. Being with the LRG team gives agents the freedom to do what’s right for the client. Dana said she cherishes the camaraderie she gets at LRG, and says she truly feels supported and part of a team. She encourages others to join the Levi Rodgers Real Estate Group if they are looking for a company that is supportive and tech savvy.

When Dana is not helping people with their real estate needs, she and Shamal often go riding together, or you might find her travelling or scuba diving. Dana and her husband lived in Dubai for 10 years and her spouse still lives there. Dana also has a full-time job of taking care of her animals (three horses; two Longhorn cows; two barn cats; and four dogs, including a ridiculous 2.4 lbs Chihuahua). She even hopes to adopt a camel ... someday!

Dana also has a special place in her heart for children. She’s been involved with Healing the Children Northeast (HTCNE) since 2005, first as the executive director, then as a volunteer team administrator since 2012.

The organization arranges free dental, medical, and surgical services for children in the U.S. and from abroad. With HTCNE, Dana has traveled to countries such as Afghanistan, Belize, Brazil, India, Morocco, Madagascar, Cambodia, and Colombia. The last mission was to the Peruvian Amazon in 2019 and she hopes to join a dental mission to Ecuador in 2022. Her role involves fundraising to purchase supplies and cover shipping expenses and organizing all non-medical logistics of the team's travel in collaboration with the local partner.

She says the people she has met on over 30 missions have become lifelong friends and she stays in touch via social media.

“I love seeing a child flourish after receiving a procedure to correct whatever condition with which he or she may be afflicted,” Dana says. “I remain in awe when a simple two-hour procedure to correct a cleft-lip can forever change the life course of a child, who without the intervention of the volunteer team, might never receive the chance to live without the restrictions (not to mention the social stigma) of a cleft lip or palate.”
