San Antonio Population and Migration Data
US Census Bureau population estimates for the San Antonio-New Braunfels metropolitan area and its core counties: total population, births, deaths, and domestic and international migration. Population growth is the demand floor under the local housing market. Every figure is drawn from a public source and stamped with its reporting period. No estimates appear on this page beyond the Census Bureau's own published estimates.
Key figures
Plate 1 Metro population, annual estimates
Annual resident population estimates for the San Antonio-New Braunfels metropolitan statistical area. Values are as published by the Census Bureau via FRED and are stated in persons.
Plate 2 County growth, July 2024 to July 2025
Total population change over the most recent estimate year for the four core metro counties. The percent column is computed on this page from the two published population values and is labeled as computed.
Plate 3 What is driving the growth: components of change
Births, deaths, domestic migration, and international migration by county. The pattern is the story: the urban core and the suburban counties are growing on different engines.
Methodology and sources
Every figure on this page is taken directly from a public source and is stamped with its reporting period. County values are reproduced exactly as published in the Census Bureau's Vintage 2025 county dataset. The only computed values on this page are percent-change figures derived by simple division of two published values, and every such figure is labeled as computed where it appears. Nothing on this page is estimated, interpolated, or modeled by the publisher of this page.
Census population estimates are revised with each annual vintage, and a given year's value can differ between vintages. Figures here follow the vintage named in the source line. Confirm current values against the linked sources before relying on any figure.
